experiments in food

this weekend was full of new and experimental recipes. saturday morning my brother and i decided to break out the magic bullet blender i have and make a watermelon vodka concoction with the watermelon from our csa box. trying shots of watermelon and vodka probably isnt something normal people do at 8:30 in the morning but it was fun.

the color of the watermelon was so pretty!
then sunday we had a family dinner at our friends house, theyre basically family and i will refer to them as family from now on. my mom made a delicious dish of roasted eggplant and yellow squash with garlic and onion and then tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese on top, soooo delicious in fact there was no time to even take pictures of it but take it from me it was so good!
today i headed back to school and when i got there i had some time to kill before class and decided to experiment a little with lunch instead of heading to the dining hall. i made a sandwich on multigrain pita with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes

it looks nicer then it tasted. i didnt have alot of time so i just put the pita and cheese in the microwave to heat it up a little and attempt to melt the cheese, which did not work at all. and the end resulted in soggy pita that was unappetizing but i ate it anyway.
