wallowing

today i was fully ready to wallow in my self-pity. for starters its been raining nonstop this week, but its a humid rain that is disgusting in my personal opinion and makes walking to class incredibly unbearable even with my umbrella. secondly rutgers is disappointing me more and more everyday. example 1: they have the world's worst student accounting and financial aid services which enjoys personally ruining my life on a daily basis i swear and secondly we have students that like to cause this and then theres always the stress of classes and october is looking like its going to be a lovely month of exams and papers.

so just as i was about to start the pity party i read this and i realized that i really have so much more i could be thankful for today. the positives outweigh the negatives in my life and sometimes i forget this. thankfully the post made me realize this and now i want to say thank you to all of you followers who read and comment on my blog, i may not show it all the time but i really appreciate you following me and the lovely comments as well.
do you guys ever have days like this? where you swear you have the worst life ever and you just want to give up and quit but then you realize that you actually have a better life then you think?

someday hopes

im taking a idea from someday hopes, and once a week im going to share an item off of my bucket list that i hope to cross off someday!

my first hope is a somewhat dorky dream but realistic is to number 29 on my bucket list: get my masters degree. im not sure what i want my masters in but i hope its in something really interesting right now im liking human ecology or anthropology or something agricultural related my mind changes everyday





and because this relates to my geekness, the other day in my research in the disciplines class we were discussing our research proposals for our research papers due at the end of the semester and someone had the same exact idea as me! i was so upset, i thought i was going to be so original and stand out and i find out someone has the same idea as me!

so what are some of your hopes for the future or items on your bucket list?

probably one of my favorite things about my college is the free file sharing system, that i am using to is best abilities tonight downloading all the episodes of glee i missed last season and all the music i dont have. because who doesnt want to watch a tv show with these cuties?

all weekend i had been craving french toast and i finally had the time to make it today after class, i must say i never used to be a fan of french toast or breakfast foods in general but im slowly changing and beginning to like breakfast

do you ever have a day when you feel like nothing could go wrong? everything is beautiful and tastes delicious, you want to dance around in your underwear to this and you feel like this girl:


well thats how im feeling today! i had a great lab in the morning, a great breakfast (pb&j!) a great smoothie, and pandora is playing some great tunes on all of my country stations! plus its gorgeous out, and im wearing a sundress!!! :) plus only 3 more days till lovebutton and all my boys get here for the football game saturday! only one more class left today yay! hope everyone's wednesday is going just as great as mine! leaving you with some recent wisdom im trying to remember everyday: "love life and life will love you back!"

the green monster

recently i have seen many blogs talking about the green monster smoothie, so I decided to give it a try because its a great combo of fruits and veggies and calcium. the great part about the smoothie, for me at least is that it includes spinach which is a great source of protein for vegetarians like me. probably the even better part is that once you add in the fruit and whatever else you want, you dont even taste the spinach! the one i made today was spinach, milk, banana and chocolate chips and let me tell you it was pure deliciousness!!! lately i've really liked bananas and spinach and due my roommates obsessive baking habits chocolate. so why not mix all three? let me tell ya, you should really try it! i wanted to lick my magic bullet and cup clean!

a secret

im gonna let you all in on a obsession of mine that has become not so secret anymore, i have a terrible obsession with old navy clothes. i would be that at least 45% of my clothes are from old navy and loveee it. many may think their clothes in recent years have become poorly or cheaply made but i do not agree. they have some great bargains in stores and online and i cant seem to tear myself away from their website. to give an example of my die-hard love for everything old navy i'll tell you a story. my brother was dating this girl who i personally did not like, i felt they werent a good fit and she always acted like she was smarter then everyone, including my parents. one day i was talking about how i had been to the old navy store twice in the past 48 hours and she immediately went on and on about how horrible their clothes were, the sizings were huge and blah blah blah. i felt offended, like she was dissing my best friend. luckily my brother no longer dates her and my love affair with old navy continues to this day.

so lately i've spent alot of time procrastinating my homework, however i did not accomplish nothing while procrastinating, i found the cutest pictures of pets ever! and they have inspired me to want a pet cat and pig. i doubt any of you could deny the cuteness factor of these pictures:

what i love

"Country music is the people's music. It just speaks about real life and about truth and it tells things how they really are."

Faith Hill said it best, country music is so relatable and I think thats why I love it the most. No matter what is going on in my life I can listen to any country song and feel so good about myself. When Im having a bad day and missing my family and friends I can put on The House that Built Me by Miranda Lambert or Run by George Strait and feel connected to my family and friends. At the moment a few songs that Im constantly turning to are The Longer the Waiting and In my Dreams by Josh Turner and Anything but Mine by Kenny Chesney. Country music is what I grew up on and one day it will be the same for my children. It is so good, the lyrics, the instruments, the artists and I've learned in recent years its only better live. Some of my favorite artists inlcude Josh Turner, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Rascal Flatts, Tim Mcgraw, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. I think I could go on for days talking about country music its just so great!

after seeing them featured on a pretty plethora i just can not get these delicious cookies out of my head. so i mentioned them to my roommate and she seems equally interested in them. looks like i know what i'll be doing this weekend! check out the recipe here!

let me tell ya about my best friend

today im gonna tell you about a boy and a girl that make me oh so happy, in a continuation of my positive week talking about what makes me happy.

the girl: i met her in 7th grade she used to tie my shoes, we'd walk home from school together, eventually my senior year of high school we were pretty darn close. without her i'd be so lost. she's my rock and my biggest cheerleader and one day will be in my wedding


even though we are really gross in this its my personal fave

the boy: we actually dated previously for a little but then broke up and now we're dating again and its the best relationship i've ever had! he is the best and always knows what to say and how to make me happy. im completely crazy about him and whenever im with him i lose track of time and forget the world exists. hes the best :)

So aside from my plan for the week of sharing with you things that make me happy, I'd like to share a link with you. feel like a proud mama, my friend attended prep school last year in hopes of entering the naval academy and was accepted this year and is now featured on their athletics page! Her and I werent really close until senior year of high school, in fact we completely hated each other freshmen through junior year and now Im so happy to call her a friend, she's the best! I love you carol! And this is a lovely picture of us isnt?

After a semi-crappy weekend,(see my never-ending rant and you'll understand) I've come to appreciate even more the little things in my life that make me happy, thanks to the advice of my boyfriend. And now I'd like to share his advice after my incessant whining and complaining for a good two days; "It'll come, even if its just for a little while, sometimes you have to just enjoy the little moments and hang on to them." That one little text message might exactly summarize why Im completely crazy for him. But lets get to the point, I've decided to share some of the little things in my life that make me happy to help get rid of all the negativity I was feeling this weekend. So everyday this week I'll be sharing little things that make me happy!

1. The number one thing that makes me happy no matter what happens is my family, and my pseudo family as we like to call them. My pseudo family is a family friend and their family, sometimes as horrible as this sounds I love them more then my cousins but when you see pictures you'll see why

these are the little ones that everyone in my family wishes that we were related too they are the cutest sweetest things ever and after a cuddle session with them the world is right again


my fake and real sister, im lucky enough to have a younger sister and now i have a older sister too by extension since we've adopted them into our family. the sister on the left is the little ones mom.


the men in my life, my older brother, father, mr. english who is the babies dad and dylan who is another extension. they make me feel safe, are great drinking partners and would do anything to make sure a guy doesnt hurt me and that said guy makes me the happiest possible and I love them for that

sorry its a little blurry, this was dylan's 30th birthday party and i had to make them shirts that said "i wanna get banged up" because they planned on having fun til sunrise

and last but not least, i decided to safe the best for last, my mama she is truly my best friend and is always there for me no matter what and i love her for that
